Trying something slightly different, each Saturday I will share a couple of articles, videos, stories, news items that I think readers are likely to enjoy.

A Hidden Life
If you haven’t watched Terrence Malick’s film A Hidden Life, the story of Austrian WW2 conscientious objector Franz Jägerstätter, I highly recommend it to you. It is my second favourite film, full of rich symbolism and posing powerful moral questions to the viewer.
In modern times, many people might take from the film an overly simplistic message about an individual defying a collective. While this is certainly one aspect, the excellent review below (WARNING: Spoilers), takes us through the hagiographical nature of the film and its challenge to the utilitarian ethic of the modern world.
Matt Cartoons
Matt Pritchett is, in my opinion, the best cartoonist in the UK right now. His work is not cruel, bitter, or mean-spirited, instead he unfailingly cuts through the nonsense and noise of UK politics and culture in a way that never fails to bring a wry smile to your face. If the Telegraph isn’t your cup of tea he’s also on Twitter.
That’s all for now, don’t panic and enjoy the rest of the weekend!
